After a decade of one-party control in our state, it’s time for change. I’ve seen friends leave Iowa, public schools struggle for funding, and insiders in Des Moines demonstrate over and over that they won’t fight for us.

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — State Auditor Rob Sand today endorsed Drew Stensland for Iowa House District 75. Sand, Iowa’s lone statewide elected Democratic officeholder, emphasized Stensland’s commitment to the community he serves and his work ethic, as well as their long-term working relationship.

“I’m proud to endorse Drew Stensland for Iowa House District 75,” said Sand. I’ve known Drew since he first joined the State Auditor’s Office as a Lead for America fellow in 2019, and I’ve seen firsthand the kind of public servant he is. A UNI graduate, Drew cares deeply about his community, listens, and shows up ready to do the work. As our Community Engagement Officer, he’s helped oversee the Public Innovations and Efficiencies (PIE) Program to save tax dollars for Iowans across the state. Cedar Falls will be well-served by having Drew in the State House.”

Stensland welcomed the endorsement, emphasizing shared values of accountability and public service. “I’m honored to earn Auditor Sand’s endorsement,”  Stensland said. “Rob’s leadership and commitment to transparency and efficiency has made a real difference for Iowans. Over the last six years working alongside Rob for the people of Iowa, I’ve had the privilege to see what true public service looks like up close. I’m ready to bring that same focus to the Iowa House—listening to our neighbors, showing up, and working hard to deliver results for Cedar Falls and District 75.”

CEDAR FALLS, IA — Drew Stensland, Democratic candidate for Iowa House District 75, announced today that his campaign raised more than $33,000 in the first 24 hours following his campaign launch. The eye-popping fundraising haul from a first-time state legislative candidate demonstrates a strong show of grassroots enthusiasm and community support from Cedar Falls and across Iowa to get the state back on track.

This campaign is about showing up, listening, and doing the work. This incredible first day is just the beginning.”

With strong early momentum and broad grassroots support, Stensland plans to continue building a strong, people-powered effort focused on listening to voters throughout House District 75 and building a campaign that is positioned to help elect Democrats up and down the ticket in November.

CEDAR FALLS, IA — Drew Stensland, a Cedar Falls native, public servant, and former University of Northern Iowa Student Body President, today announced his campaign for the Democratic nomination for the Iowa House of Representatives in District 75.

Stensland’s announcement comes as longtime dedicated public servant Rep. Bob Kressig (D-Black Hawk) announced his retirement. “Rep. Kressig is not just my representative, but my friend,” said Stensland. “I’m grateful for Bob’s service to our district, and it would be an honor to carry the torch forward and continue the legacy of public service he has shown us in his time in office. Cedar Falls is better for Bob’s service.”

Stensland’s commitment to public service comes from his parents, a retired AEA educator and a Cedar Falls firefighter. “My parents taught me to work hard and serve others,” Stensland said. “When fewer young people step into public service, nothing changes unless someone is willing to lead. That’s why I’m running, and it’s why I’ll need our community right alongside me.”
