    CEDAR FALLS, IA

Today, retiring State Representative Bob Kressig (D-Black Hawk) announced his endorsement of Drew Stensland to succeed him in Iowa House District 75.

Rep. Kressig, who has represented the Cedar Falls community with distinction since 2005 when he flipped the district from red to blue, cited Stensland’s work ethic and commitment to public service as key reasons for his support.

Drew Stensland is exactly the kind of leader House District 75 needs,” said Kressig. “I’ve gotten to know Drew over the last year and have become a mentor to him and been able to offer my advice as he thought about taking on this new challenge. He understands our community, he listens first, and he’s committed to strengthening our public schools, supporting working families, and protecting the values that make Cedar Falls such a great place to live. I have every confidence that Drew will continue the work I’ve done for the past 22 years and serve our district with integrity.”

Stensland, a Cedar Falls native and former UNI Student Body President, thanked Kressig for his leadership and mentorship.

“I am deeply honored to have Representative Kressig’s endorsement,” said Stensland. “Bob has been a steady, principled voice for Cedar Falls and a tireless advocate for public education and working families. I’m grateful for his years of service to our community and for the mentorship he’s provided me. I look forward to building on his legacy and continuing the fight to get Iowa back on track.”

Rep. Kressig’s endorsement adds to growing momentum behind Stensland’s campaign, and adds to the support of top Democrats Stensland has already earned. Stensland has previously earned endorsements from State Auditor Rob Sand, Rep. Jerome Amos (D-Black Hawk), and Rep. Timi Brown-Powers (D-Black Hawk) as House District 75 shapes up to be a key battleground in the fight to elect Democrats up and down the ticket in November.

CEDAR FALLS, IA — Drew Stensland, a Cedar Falls native, public servant, and former University of Northern Iowa Student Body President, today announced his campaign for the Democratic nomination for the Iowa House of Representatives in District 75.

Stensland’s announcement comes as longtime dedicated public servant Rep. Bob Kressig (D-Black Hawk) announced his retirement. “Rep. Kressig is not just my representative, but my friend,” said Stensland. “I’m grateful for Bob’s service to our district, and it would be an honor to carry the torch forward and continue the legacy of public service he has shown us in his time in office. Cedar Falls is better for Bob’s service.”

Stensland’s commitment to public service comes from his parents, a retired AEA educator and a Cedar Falls firefighter. “My parents taught me to work hard and serve others,” Stensland said. “When fewer young people step into public service, nothing changes unless someone is willing to lead. That’s why I’m running, and it’s why I’ll need our community right alongside me.”
